Mogul: The Classical Hollywood Studio Game is an an excellent resource for introductory film studies courses in secondary and post-secondary schools. The game immerses students in the economic, cultural, and technical challenges of the classical Hollywood studio system. Players run studios, create films, compete for box office success, and try to out earn their competitors while gaining a deeper understanding of the system that shaped American cinema.

In addition to teaching film and video production courses at Grand Valley State University, Suzanne Zack is an avid board game enthusiast. When she taught GVSU's general education film studies course for the first time, she began creating an educational game that would immerse students in the classical Hollywood studio system and provide a deep learning experience.

After ten years of research and development, Mogul: The Classical Hollywood Studio Game launched and now​ provides a high impact learning experience that deepens student understanding of the relationships between economics, culture, and technology during the classical Hollywood era.
